The art of the spoken word

It’s April…that means National Poetry Month here at the Library. Please join your fellow poets and our guest poet, Kay Z. Myers, on Tuesday, April 12, 7:30pm for a workshop in the Winsor Room. Whilst this is not a poetry slam, you are encouraged to bring your own poems and read them to us.

Teacher and poet Kay Z. Myers has lived with her family in Wayne since 1965. Kay completed her Ph.D. in Literature and taught at Cabrini College. The poet is the author of many published poems. In 2009, Kay published Three From Osage, a collection of poems about herself and two friends growing up in Girard, Kansas.

At the workshop, Myers will walk you through poems from various poets. You will hone your writing skills, analyze the poetic devices you use most, and cultivate other possibilities. No registration is required…just come!
